Our Issues
Standing Up for Macon-Bibb Families
The Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee is committed to tackling the most pressing issues facing our community. We believe that real change happens when we confront these challenges head-on, with policies that uplift everyone—not just the privileged few.
🗳 Voting Rights & Democracy
Georgia’s voter purges, restrictive laws, and attacks on ballot access threaten our democracy. In Macon-Bibb, we are working to:
Protect and expand access to the ballot box.
Educate residents about purges and deadlines.
Hold leaders accountable for fair and transparent elections.
🎓 Education & Youth Opportunity
Our children deserve schools that prepare them for success. Yet, budget shortfalls and cuts to federal programs leave too many students behind. We are fighting to:
Fund ESOL, after-school programs, dual enrollment, and teacher development.
Oppose budget cuts that widen inequities.
Ensure every child can learn, thrive, and dream big.
💵 Economic Justice & Living Wages
While tax breaks for the wealthy continue, 57% of households in Macon can’t afford the ALICE living wage threshold. We stand for:
Jobs that pay livable wages.
Fair taxation that doesn’t burden renters and working families.
Policies that close the wealth gap and build real pathways out of poverty.
🏥 Healthcare & Well-being
Republicans’ attacks on Medicaid and Medicare put lives at risk. In Macon-Bibb, over 750,000 Georgians could lose coverage. We fight to:
Expand access to affordable healthcare and Medicaid.
Support community clinics, mental health programs, and elder care.
Protect Medicare for current and future generations.
🌍 Climate & Environmental Justice
From extreme heat to flooding, climate change impacts us all—especially low-income neighborhoods. We are pushing to:
Invest in climate-resilient infrastructure.
Promote clean energy and sustainable community growth.
Hold leaders accountable for climate inaction that puts lives at risk.
⚖️ Public Safety & Justice
Macon-Bibb residents deserve safe streets without systemic injustice. We are committed to:
Criminal justice reform that reduces racial inequities.
Investments in violence prevention and community programs.
Addressing jail overcrowding with rehabilitation, not mass incarceration.
Our fight is your fight. These issues affect every family in Macon-Bibb. Together, we will build a community that is fair, safe, and full of opportunity.
