Chair Statement in response to Mayor racially divisive and disrespectful statement

Renoalda Scott, Chair of the Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee

As Chair of the Macon-Bibb Democratic Committee, I cannot sit silently while our current Mayor publicly makes racially divisive and disrespectful statements about our community. The language used in this post is not only offensive—it reinforces harmful stereotypes and blames Black residents for systemic issues, all while attempting to absolve himself of responsibility.

We demand respect. And we demand leadership that sees every resident of Macon-Bibb as worthy of dignity—not just during elections, but every day. These kinds of comments from the Mayor are unacceptable, and we won’t let them go unchecked. This is not leadership. It’s deflection, plain and simple. If our Mayor is more focused on pointing fingers than building bridges, then he’s unfit to represent any of us.

Macon-Bibb deserves a leader who respects the people, celebrates our culture, and works with the community—not against it. We will not stand by while our voices are disrespected. We’re ready to vote in a leader who listens, respects, and works for the people of Macon-Bibb!
